New sanitary valves will accommodate extremely low flow & smaller process equipment

Equilibar has introduced an expansion of products in their FDO series of sanitary fluid control valves as well as shortened lead times for delivery of most existing FDO models. The new sanitary valves for low flow will open up opportunities and expand options for system designers.

Superior precision now possible for more pharmaceutical, personal care, food & other sanitary applications

The new products will provide unmatched precision for biopharmaceutical and other aseptic processes that have extremely low flow rate ranges.

“The new FDO2 valve with ¼ inch ports and FDO3 with ⅜ inch ports were introduced to market to serve our customers looking for superior control at lower Cv values,” said Megan Cider-Elm, Life Sciences Product Director for Equilibar and Steriflow Valve. “They open up opportunities for exceptionally precise control for low flow systems as well as offering valves that have the same connection sizes as process lines on smaller process equipment.”

In addition, Equilibar’s FDO4 valve, which comes with ½ inch ports, is now available in a round format, which offers higher precision over a wider range of flow rates than the original square design and conforms with the format of other FDO valves. This new design also enables gravity drainability for sanitary applications. The original compact square design is still available for customers who prefer it.

Shorter lead times in 2025

Equilibar is also pleased to announce shortened lead times for many of their standard FDO models. Customers can expect lead times of 5-10 days for orders in quantities of 4 or fewer for the popular FDO4 as well as FDO6, FDO8, FDO12, and FDO16 valves.

This improvement enables us to deliver our high-performance control valves more quickly than ever, helping customers stay on track with project timelines and keep operations running smoothly.

Technology behind the FDO valves

All Equilibar® FDO valves feature a revolutionary multi-orifice diaphragm-operated technology capable of controlling pressure with unmatched precision over a wide range of flow rates. They are pilot-controlled, allowing for easy automation, and are particularly well suited for buffer blending, TMP control in tangential flow filtration, sanitary tank blanketing, controlling pump head pressure, and other challenging sanitary applications. A thin, supple membrane is the only moving part, responding instantly to changes in the system flow rate to accurately maintain the pressure at the desired set point. The compact and simple design allows for fast disassembly and maintenance, facilitating an elegant process layout.

The FDO valves are specifically designed for use in biopharma, food, personal care and other applications with requirements for surface finish, clean-in-place, drainability, or USP class VI materials.

how the Equilibar valve works in pressure reducing control

For complex applications, Equilibar® valves can provide reliable pressure-reducing control

Equilibar’s multiple orifice diaphragm technology has become a favorite for providing back pressure control, vacuum control, and flow control, but in certain applications it can also provide distinct advantages as a pressure reducing valve (PRV) that is able to perform where conventional valves cannot. Equilibar devices excel in pressure-reducing applications that push far beyond the Read More
