PTFE Regulators for High Pressure

To satisfy customer demand, Equilibar has now expanded its 100% PTFE Teflon regulator options to higher pressure ratings. Using 1/8″ and 1/16″ PTFE tubing, these regulators can now be rated to 250 psig and 500 psig (respectively). These units incorporate Teflon PTFE/Glass diaphragms and Kalrez FFKM wetted o-rings.

The LF1 back pressure regulator featured in the photograph contains flat-bottom port with 1/4-28 threads. To improve the lifetime of the ports, the threads on the PTFE regulators body are reinforced with stainless SS316 Heli-Coil inserts.

The “cone and gripper” system shown is available from Cole Parmer and features a Tefzel fluoropolymer cone (wetted) and a glass-filled polypropylene gripper (non-wetted). This particular unit is intended for 1/8″ tubing and is rated for 250 psig.

Case study: specialty regulator facilitates promising supercritical research

Metal Organic Frameworks (MOF) are a class of nanomaterials with high surface areas and porous structures that offer potential advantages for a variety of applications including hydrogen storage, water purification, and wound healing. Despite their promise, MOFs have not achieved widespread use due to a lack of large-scale manufacturing synthesis processes. Researchers in the Mechanical Read More
