Marla Mabry accounting assistant

In her role as accounting assistant, Marla Mabry works closely with our Customer Service, Purchasing, Production, and Inventory Processes to keep everything running smoothly. Her warm and friendly personality helps create a positive atmosphere for everyone.

Marla earned a degree in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, just down the road from Equilibar, and worked in other area businesses prior to joining our team last August.

She says learning about Equilibar’s diverse and innovative customers is among the most interesting parts of her job. “I’ve always dealt with domestic customers in the past, but Equilibar does business around the world and even with customers like NASA, who are known around the world, so that is definitely intriguing to me.”

When she’s not at work, Marla enjoys a variety of hobbies, including thrifting and checking out area flea markets. She also likes to paint ceramics and read. “I have a huge cookbook collection,” she added. “I’m just not a very good cook!”

One of Marla’s favorite local spots to visit is the Western North Carolina Nature Center, which is home to 60 species of wild and domestic animals. The Nature Center recently celebrated its 100th birthday, and while it started out as a small zoo with a collection of exotic animals, it has evolved to serve as an important conservation partner helping to educate children and adults about the important animals that are native to this region, including the river otter, hell bender salamander, red wolves, and cougars. Two of their most popular residents are the black bears Uno and Ursa, who serve as ambassadors for the hundreds of wild black bear that have become mascots for the Asheville area.

We’re all glad to have her on the team.
