Alexander Jung earned a degree in chemical engineering from NC State University where he gained experience interning with an ethoxylation plant. “One of my most memorable takeaways was observing the design considerations that went into safely transporting ethylene oxide by means of pressure control and inert gases,” he said. “The experience reinforced my interest in the chemical industry.”

Before joining Equilibar, Alexander also worked as a process engineer in plastic rotational molding as well as a tutor and chemistry assistant. “Tutoring gave me a lot of experience learning how to work with people of many backgrounds. I found I was quite good at simplifying complex subjects and presenting them in easy-to-understand ways.” This skill has proven useful in his Equilibar role as he works directly with customers to provide well thought-out solutions to individual fluid control challenges.

“One of my favorite things is speaking on the phone with customers,” Alexander said. “I love being able to help with a challenging application and hear the enthusiasm when we can offer a solution, and it’s intriguing to be exposed to nearly every industry that requires pressure control. I enjoy that such a seemingly simple concept as backpressure control can lead to challenging and thought-provoking fluid dynamics questions. Every day, I learn something new.”

Alexander brings to the team a creative approach that he has developed thanks to his many hands-on hobbies, including radio control aircraft, model trains, fencing, and professional fine-scale modeling. “Most of my hobbies begin with a sudden urge to learn something new. Through them, I have honed a strong attention for detail and an eye for aesthetics.

“I also collect and wear 1930s and 1940s clothing, which came about from my love of history and appreciation for quality workmanship. I taught myself how to sew and sewed my wife’s wedding gown from an original 1940 dated pattern. This is currently my magnum opus until the next big challenge comes along.”

Alexander grew up in Western North Carolina and enjoys exploring the mountains, including an annual camping trip to Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River.

The Equilibar team is happy to have Alexander on the team and looks forward to seeing where his collaboration with customers leads in the coming years. “My goal is to always provide every customer with the same attention to detail and thought, regardless of how big or how small their application is.”
