PTFE Regulators for High Pressure

2015: Equilibar recently expanded its 100% PTFE Teflon regulator options to allow higher pressure ratings in liquid fluid service only (not gas service). Using 1/8″ and 1/16″ PTFE tubing, these regulators can now be rated to 250 psig and 500 psig, respectively. These units use PTFE/Glass diaphragms and FFKM wetted O-rings.

The LF1 back pressure regulator featured in the photograph contains a flat-bottom port with 1/4-28 threads. To improve the lifetime of the ports, the threads on the PTFE regulator body are reinforced with stainless SS316 Heli-Coil inserts.

The “cone and gripper” system shown is available from Cole Parmer and features a Tefzel fluoropolymer cone (wetted) and a glass-filled polypropylene gripper (non-wetted). This particular unit is intended for 1/8″ tubing and is rated for 250 psig.

Compare and Contrast: conventional flow control valve vs. an Equilibar regulator

Equilibar’s direct-sealing diaphragm technology was first introduced to provide precise backpressure control for complex applications; however, engineers and scientists soon discovered that these devices can offer advantages for extremely complex flow control applications as well.  Specifically, they perform well in applications involving wide flow rate ranges, corrosive chemicals, extreme pressures, multi-phase flows and supercritical states. Read More
