Equilibar Used in MIT Reverse Osmosis Membrane Fouling Research

  • MIT case study on membrane fouling

Researchers at MIT implemented an Equilibar® Back Pressure Regulator to control pressure on a membrane used in reverse osmosis water purification research. The unit helped to eliminate noise in the data collected and allowed for automation of testing to increase practicality and efficiency. The research is part of an effort to improve the desalination and remediation of water.

Compare and Contrast: conventional flow control valve vs. an Equilibar regulator

Equilibar’s direct-sealing diaphragm technology was first introduced to provide precise backpressure control for complex applications; however, engineers and scientists soon discovered that these devices can offer advantages for extremely complex flow control applications as well.  Specifically, they perform well in applications involving wide flow rate ranges, corrosive chemicals, extreme pressures, multi-phase flows and supercritical states. Read More
