New video shows inner workings of SDO single use valve

Take a look inside Equilibar’s SDO Single Use Sanitary Valve with a new video featuring Senior Design Engineer Ryan Heffner.

Designed to accommodate the rapidly expanding single use technology field in pharmaceutical and related industries, the SDO features low cost components that can be sterilized through irradiation before use and then disposed of after use. A stainless steel support housing for the unit uses wing nut closure for quick and easy assembly.

In the video, Ryan demonstrates how to change out the SDO single use valve and gives an overview of the valve’s important features.

The SDO offers the same dome-loaded multiple orifice technology as all Equilibar patented products–delivering instantaneous control, frictionless operation and superior precision across exceptionally wide flow rate ranges. Its strengths are particularly well suited to control the transmembrane pressure in tangential flow filtration control applications or cross-flow filtration as well as dP control in virus filtration systems.

Many traditional back pressure regulators use springs to gradually open up as the overpressure is used to compress the spring. This often results in significant inlet pressure loss with increases in process flow. Equilibar® regulators feature ultra-sensitive diaphragm-operated back pressure technology. They fully open in less than 1% overpressure in most applications.

In addition to pressure control applications, the Equilibar SD can be used in on/off and flow control applications in single use processes. Potential advantages for on/off applications include the regulator’s simple construction, ease of computer automation and low pressure drop.

Our experienced application engineers are eager to discuss applications requiring the SDO valve as well as the FD stainless steel sanitary valve. In addition, Equilibar offers a broad range of back pressure regulators, vacuum control valves and flow control valves for both research and industry. We invite you to contact them to discuss your particular application.
