What makes the Equilibar® technology unique?
How do I provide my SetPoint to this regulator? The Equilibar® back pressure regulator uses a fully frictionless design that is dramatically more precise than ordinary back pressure regulators - especially in the low and medium pressure ranges.
The Equilibar® achieves it precision by providing a fluid set-point pressure to the top of its diaphragm.
For manual applications, we can provide an optional Air Spring SetPoint Kit (as shown above). For automatic applications, we can provide an optional Electro-Pneumatic Regulator Kit. Finally, for very low pressure applications, we can provide an optional HydroStatic Reference Kit. this can be provided back pressure regulator uses a fully frictionless design that is dramatically more precise than ordinary back pressure regulators - especially in the low and medium pressure ranges.
How is this different from other dome-loaded pressure regulators?
The Equilibar® is a type of dome-pressure regulator, but uses a innovate seat design giving it much higher precision and stability from 0 -100% of its flow range. Traditional seat designs are typically optimized to be stable in limited flow ranges. Learn more about How it Works.
How low pressure can it control?
The Equilibar® offers unmatched performance in very low pressure ranges, with excellent control down to about 1" water column (0.03 psi). Depending of flow and body size, it can easily achieve precision better than 0.25" water column (0.01 psi). Learn more about Low Pressure applications.
Exactly what do you mean by "Precision"?
There are two relevant types of precision:
1) Set-Point Precision: Agreement between set-point and process pressure
The Equlibar's frictionless design gives it a cracking pressure within 1% of set-point pressure in most applications, and can be configured with 0.5%. With proper sizing, the regulator stays within an impressive 1-2% of its set-point pressure through a wide flow range. The offset between cracking pressure and full-flow pressure is about 5 times smaller than traditional back pressure regulators.2) Flow Range Precision: Stable Process Pressure through Wide Flow range
Most applications don't need great set-point precision, but do require stable process pressures across varying flow rates. With proper body sizing, the Equilibar® can maintain process pressure within a range of 1-2% of set-point pressure across dramatic flow variations.
How can I use the Equlibar to automate my process?
The Equilibar® excels at computer automation applications. By connecting an electro-pneumatic transducer to the reference port, the Equilibar® allows your process computer to vary process pressure with precision to 0.01 psi! This could be used for everything from simple flowrate control to controlling reactor conditions in a research environment.
What about Vacuum applications?
Because the frictionless design is so precise, the Equilibar® is also suitable for use as a vacuum regulator. Simply connect a vacuum pump or vacuum supply to the exhaust port, and the regulator controls your process pressure with the same precision as in Low Pressure applications. The regulator does not use or sense atmospheric pressure in any way, and therefore cannot distinguish between vacuum and low pressure applications. Although a vacuum source is still required as the reference pressure, this can easily be supplied with a simple low-flow vacuum regulator. More about vacuum applications.
What materials of construction are available?
Bodies are typically made from Stainless Steel 316, PVC, PTFE Teflon, or aluminum. Diaphragms are typically made of rubber (Buna N or EPDM) or polymer film (PTFE Teflon or PolyEthylene).
What other features make the Equilibar® unique?
How can I purchase an Equilibar®? How can I learn more?
Equilibar, LLC developed this patented technology, and manufactures and sells these devices worldwide. Smaller regulators are typically in stock for immediate delivery. Larger regulators, or those with special requirements are custom designed and manufactured to requirements (no additional cost for design time!), with a typical 3-4 week delivery.
